Photography Tips While Using Your Phone

Last week I gave you some ideas for how to get inspiration to take your own photos. This week I’m going to give you some tips! It is super important to know how to take decent photos for your blog or business. These tips can be used for Instagram photos, product photography, and photos for your blog. Most of my tips will be for people using their phones, I do not have a DSLR or other fancy camera and I use my iPad so these tips will be helpful for phone users that still want great photos.

For iPhone and iPad users turn the grid on your camera so you can put you focused item to the center, left, or right. I also have a Microsoft phone and was able to put a grid up on it too. I’ll record a video on how to get a grid on your camera if you’d like.

This next tip is to choose what you want your main focus to be on, if your faking a photo of a person focus on their eyes and face, but mostly eyes. Of course, if your focusing on that lipstick your wearing focus on the lips! You can normally tap where you want to focus and a circle or square will pop up to tell you where you’re focusing. On iPads and iPhones you can tap and hold for three seconds on a word, face, pattern, etc and it will focus on that thing even if you move it or the camera. You can also slide your finger up and down to adjust the brightness of the photo.

Use natural light, that yellow or gray light is not as pretty as a bright white or bluish light. Don’t get too much light in your photo where it’s way too bright though. You can also try taking photos outside to get a constant amount of light.

Don’t zoom too much. Zooming in can cause grainy photos and that’s pretty ugly.

To avoid blurriness try turning on a timer, sometimes pushing your finger on the shutter button can cause blurriness.

Just have fun and take multiple photos to get the right one. Try different angles, and types of brightness.
